The LUNA2000-21-S1 is Huawei’s 3-module configuration in the LUNA2000-S1 family that targets whole-home backup and PV self-consumption optimization. Its Module+ architecture uses 6.9 kWh battery modules with built-in energy optimizers so installers can expand capacity (6.9 → 13.8 → 20.7 kWh per group) without re-engineering the BMS. The shipped 21 model provides 20.7 kWh usable energy at 100% DoD (three modules) and supports max. 10.5 kW charge & discharge for the 3-module group.
Engineered for reliability and safety, the system uses LiFePO4 cells, five layers of protection (cell, electrical, structural, active and emergency), natural-convection cooling and IP66 enclosure for indoor/outdoor installs. It operates across a wide ambient range (-20 °C to +55 °C), supports parallel expansion (up to 4 groups with compatible inverters) and communicates via RS485/FE/CAN for monitoring and parallel system coordination. The power module and battery modules can be ordered separately depending on vendor packaging.
Practical benefits and use cases:
Whole-home backup when paired with compatible SUN2000 / SUN5000 hybrid inverters.
Peak-shaving and self-consumption: high usable capacity + 100% DoD yields more energy available for daily cycling.
Easy field expansion: add/remove 6.9 kWh modules to match future needs or staged deployments.
