The LUNA2000-14-S1 is a smart string energy storage system built for residential and small commercial solar installations. Its module+ architecture uses 6.9 kWh battery modules (each with a built-in energy optimizer) so capacity can be scaled easily without pre-conditioning; the 14 model ships as two modules giving 13.8 kWh usable energy at 100% DoD, and you can expand up to 20.7 kWh per group by adding a third module. The system separates the power module (LUNA2000-10KW-C1) from battery modules so installers can order only the parts they need.
Safety and reliability are emphasized: LiFePO4 cell chemistry, 5 layers of protection (cell, electrical, structural, active and emergency), natural convection cooling, and a long service life design (module level optimization improves energy throughput and warranty eligibility). The product supports indoor/outdoor installation (IP66), operates from -20°C to +55°C, emits <29 dB in normal operation, and supports parallel expansion and multiple SUN2000/SUN5000 inverter families for hybrid/grid-tie setups.
Key technical highlights (from the datasheet)
